A number nobody reads, doing the only work that matters.
Thirty-five microns is roughly half the width of a human hair. It is the difference between an object you are aware of and one you are not, and holding it evenly across a whole wall is considerably harder than hitting it once in a lab.
Thinner is not automatically better. Past a point the wall stops being reliable, and reliability is the entire premise. The interesting engineering is not the minimum achievable figure — it is the tightest tolerance you can hold at a figure that still passes every burst and pinhole test the wall has to pass.
So the number on this page is a tolerance, not a record. That distinction is most of what separates a considered object from a marketing claim.
